Most of the gauntlets I enjoy, or at least tolerate. Not Pauper. This is the single most frustrating event to play in. Even Noble with its stupid Invade fiesta is better because then I get the joy of repeatedly killing Invade decks.

In Pauper, there are two dominant strategies: either spam factotums or spam lethals in green. Often, you will see these two strategies combined in a lovely package of boredom. None of these creatures have particularly high power, so each game takes longer than a Support Mage mirror match. Running aggro doesn't work because factotums give everything guard and like 3 common cards have breakthrough. And I refuse to play Invade on principle.

In principle, Pauper is a cool idea. But the meta is so incredibly, irredeemably, unbearably boring. When I was watching streamers play the gauntlet, each match took at least a solid 15-20 turns. Even Dragons become unfun when the only available ones are the lookouts and Automaton, which inevitably leads back to factotums/lethal. But here I am, forced to play the worst thing since the Invade 50 times quest from Mankar for the Jaws intro, because I want me some crabs.

So I get through the first and second rounds (9-2 and 4-3). But I can't even play the third round. Why? Daylight saving time. I didn't expect the event to end an hour early and was trying to put off playing it as much as possible. Now I know that's not related to the gauntlet but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
