Posted: 06 Sep 2021 11:05 AM PDT Sure, we might say that Jaws of Oblivion was probably the final nail in the coffin, but ultimately the game was never gonna survive with how generous it was to its players. Once players were able to build a sizeable collection the money stops coming in from those players because of how much gold and soul gems you can earn to keep on expanding your collection on your own. If the game wants to survive and be relevant they have to start taking more from its players. This would have to mean that in order to get players to keep spending money, whether it's 100$ on huge booster packs, or continuous small 1-5$ purchases, they'll have to give players less so we'll be more inclined to spend. Even with the event tickets, they're too generous; you can easily earn back what you've spent to enter events and then some. It's just not profitable to give players so much in return without charging them for it. I think this does help initially because it gets players hooked on wanting to collect more once they're given a bunch of free stuff to start out, but they will have to drastically change how we pay for the game and im willing to bet it will turn off a lot of players unless you already own everything. I don't mean this all to be the complete truth but I definitely believe the devs are gonna need to restructure the monetization and rewards system Lastly, I think expansions should come in smaller packages. The stuff they were releasing were always huge and in order to make short deadlines to turn a profit, it's really gonna hurt when they can't efficiently playtest every new card which I'm willing to bet happened with JoO [link] [comments] | ||
