    how arena rewards work now?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:37 AM PST

I just won the arena for all 9 victories, but as a result it gave me: 75 coins, a little soul stones and 2 packs of cards. although if I'm not mistaken, earlier for this I was given 2 page awards.

which is surprising when I went through the arena with fewer victories it gave me: a little coins, 3 packs of cards and a little less soul stones than last time (by destroying duplicates I got even more soul stones) So, is it so random that favors me, or is it really such a strange reward system now? if the second, then can someone pls explain how exactly all this works

2 reasons I enjoy TESL more now than I did a month ago

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:12 PM PST

    1) there is little reason to grind - So I can ignore the daily quests if they don't line up with what I want to play in the moment.

    2) I don't feel I need to save all these soul gems to craft legendaries in the next expansion - So I can craft the silly cards I have wanted to play but never felt they were worth the price.

For these 2 reasons, I will probably be playing this game for a long time to come.

Here hoping the server says up until 2025

Who wants to "steal" the Euraxia /Rimmen Siege Engine title?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 03:12 PM PST

You get that by casting Euraxia Tharn (ET)to steal an opponent's Rimmen Siege Engine (RSE). It's a very difficult title to get... unless you have a plan. I do. Find a bunch of like-minded players who want the title, and have them all play at the exact same time with substantially similar Redoran decks. If we all seek a match at the exact same time, the odds are good we will match up with another title seeker (concede out if your matched opponent is not Redoran). Once you are matched with the proper partner, getting the title becomes easy. You each take up one lane and try to cycle through your deck without attacking. Play the first RSE you get, and hold any others in your hand. Your partner will do the same. When you get ET, steal their RSE and wait for them to steal it back. Only after both players have stolen RSE with ET should either player make an effort to win. Remember, you are partners. Note, that a few of the cards in your decks trigger off of slay or pilfer, so you might need to make some minimal attacks here and there, but you should work it so that nobody comes close to dying (these decks will include life gain to keep players safe). I will now show you the deck concept, dividing each card category up and listing the possible cards for each category, from better to worse, explaining as I go...

    Key title cards...

    Euraxia Tharn, Rimmen Siege Engine.

ET is unique, so you can only play one. RSE is not, so put in as many as you can to increase the speed that you draw one. Note that these two required cards force you to play a Redoran deck.

    Establish color card...

    Redoran Forerunner, Inspiring Kinsman

You want only one of these, no more than that.

    Bounce cards...

Close Call, Cast Out, Forsworn Guide.

Much of your deck has summoning effects, and these cards give you reuse. There's one other relevant use. If you play ET to steal RSE, and your partner does not have ET himself, he can instead steal your ET, bounce it to their hand and then replay it to steal back the RSE. You want at least 6 of these.

    Tutors...

Dagi-raht Mystic, Silent Pilgrim, Midnight Burial.

Play as many Mystics as you have. Don't attack with it after you have one RSE. Assuming ET and your one color establishment card are the only cards in your deck that are multi-attribute, then the first casting of Silent Pilgrim has a 50% chance of fetching ET. The second casting 100%. Midnight Burial can fetch both Euraxia (and through betray) Dagi-raht Mystic to get an RSE as well. Unfortunately Midnight Burial only fetches to your discard pile, so you need to add reanimation cards. If you are short of Mystics, then you should go all in on the reanimation strategy. If not, you could just play Pilgrims and ignore Midnight Burial.

    Reanimation...

Soul Tear, Falkreath Defiler, Reanimate, Mannimarco?

I'm skeptical on the last one. If you are not playing with Midnight Burial, you should have 3 to 4 reanimate cards to protect yourself from an accidental discard of a key combo piece. If you are using Midnight Burial as a tutor, then you should have about 8 reanimation cards.

    Life gain...

Bruma Profiteer, Necromancer's Amulet, Varen Aquilarios.

Use the max of these. RSE does cause damage, and these cards will counteract that until both players get their steal in.

    Development..

    Jyggalag's Incursion

Play the max three. This helps both players play higher cost cards quickly

    Steal ET cards...

    Arrest, Miraak, Chodala's Treachery.

Steal her and then bounce it to replay if you don't have your own ET. Four is about the right number, as this is just a backup plan.

Draw cards (this is most of your deck)...

Merchant's Camel, Blackmail, Disciple of Namira, Karthspire Scout, Spider Worker, Indoril Mastermind, Cicero the Betrayer, Blood-crazed Daedroth, Rapid Shot, Enchanted Plate, Stand Watch, Blood Pact Messenger, Gray Viper Brigand, Morag Tong Nightblade, Faded Wraith, Wilds Incarnate, Queen's Captain, Priest of the Eight, Rajhini Highwayman, Crusader's Assault, Ash Berserker.

Note that Disciple with Bruma Profiteer or Necromancer's Amulet allows you to keep saccing guys in one lane to summon more to draw cards, gaining you process. That's your main draw engine. I think the rest of it is obvious.

Who's in? I'm going to suggest we do this sometime this weekend. I'm flexible on a time. If people want in, give a range of preferred times, and we'll pick one after we figure out who is interested. For me, I prefer between 6am and 8pm EST on Saturday December 28th or Sunday, December 29th.

    Leaflurker vs Bern Clan

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:59 PM PST

I have been building a version of telvani alter and have been drawn to these two creatures because they are hard removal in some colors that struggle to universally remove threats.

My question stands in the versatility and practicality in these two creatures, while Berne Clan Nightstalker has better stats and guard it also gives the opponent time to silence/ bounce it back to hand and ignore it, or even trade the chosen creature negating much of it's value in a situation where leaflurker would have just killed the problem creature.

I see leaflurker fairly often on the ladder but hardly ever see the Nightstalker played by others and I don't know if this is because it is a bad card or just a situational one because in theory it seems good in the type of deck I'm building, for example you could play it and sacrifice it to essentially just cast jav.

I would think it would be better to pull from an alter than leaflurker because leaflurker seems like the type of card that requires some set up to get good value from it and the Nightstalker has less restrictions on what it can target.

In the end I think I am leaning towards the Nightstalker, but I am still fairly on the fence and I was just interested what people better than me thought. (I'm around rank 5 if that helps)

(PS: gems are not a problem here, so don't worry about the budget)

If it's all about revenue, why didn't Beth/Sparky introduce ads?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 05:28 PM PST

I'm really glad they didn't, but I see lots of apps with banner ads - Bethesda and Sparky could have added them and generated revenue, couldn't they? Maybe it would save the game? I'm sure some players would drop the game, but I think we'd be better off over all. I see how few viewers the former TESL streamers attract with the new games they are playing and I'm sure they would have done better sticking with TESL+ads. I wonder why they didn't even try...
