Do you think this is how they monetized TESL in the Asian client?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 11:12 AM PST

I've been trying to figure out whether or not it's worth setting up the Asia client - I've got a PC but my Android mobile device is a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is probably too old to run the client (not sure). So, it's a bit of a hassle, I'll probably have to get a new mobile device, and I'm kind of reluctant to start all over.

As for the monetization experiment, there is this new premium currency in the Asian client called Crown Coins. As I understand it (many thanks to DragonTameBlayde's excellent writeup and Joedor for his Q&A with me) you can spend the CCs to buy a premium battle pass (as opposed to the default free battle pass) which gets you lots of extra loot and lasts about 6 weeks. Once the six weeks are up, you can get another free battle pass or spend CCs for another premium battle pass. The initial premium battle pass is less the $20 US but there's a bundle deal which makes spending the $20 worthwhile for now. If you grind hard enough you can collect enough CCs to get the next premium battle pass for free. I'm guessing lots of folks won't grind enough and some will pay cash for the premium battle pass. Clearly, the monetization model they tried in the US failed - maybe the Asian client will succeed?

What do you think? Is it worth the overhead of setting it all up or no? I kind of don't relish the idea of endless grinding but I'm not a very good player or competitive so that's kind of what I did in the US version anyway (tons and tons of time grinding the AI for gems).

The only thing that's kind of appealing about starting over is the practice you get with a limited card set that makes it possible to really master the synergies. When I started TESL in the US there were already 700 cards in the game and I never really figured out how to use them well.

    Thanks for your thoughts folks!

    Just realised something odd

Okay, so... For now, we get no future expansions. I'll continue to support the game and hope it's not the ultimate end, since I enjoy it.

I love my dragon decks and was holding out hopes a Durnehviir card, despite him obviously heading straight for Endurance and me seldom using that colour.

But I noticed that Nahagliiv, when summoned, actually uses Durnehviir's line of "speak, if you have aught to say worth the listening"

He was with us all along :'(

Shame, really. Could have had some cool similar effect to Bone Daddy.

    Spiritual successor to TESL?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 05:26 AM PST

I was wondering if anyone has played Legends of Runeterra. ( you have to apply for early access)

Videos make it seem more akin to our beloved TESL than other DCG so I was wondering if any yall had firsthand opinions.

I played Mythgard in alpha, and have been playing some again in the last few weeks, but I just am not overly excited by it.

High Hrothgar doing crazy stuff (Ring of Imaginary Might OTK deck)

Went 17-3 in the gauntlet with a yellow consume deck. If you want a break from goblins, it's a lot of fun!

    Mighty Conjuring or Bone Collossus

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 02:55 PM PST

I haven't really been in tune with the meta. I've been trying to update my Mid Sorc deck since that's always been a solid and straight forward deck. I'm debating whether or not I want Conjuring of Collossus as my 7 drop to close out the game. Maybe some sort of split? I was hoping the TESL braintrust would have some worthwhile insight. For reference my current deck code is posted below. It works really well for comp stomps. :)
