    New Card Back?

I'm ready for the next expansion!

Fun fact: if you activate Hannibal Tavern’s Last Grasp ability and your turns time limit expires while you are casting the spells he has learned, you can force the game to let you have more than 10 cards at a time because all of the unused spells will just get shoved into your hand.

Why I think the game isn't done yet

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 12:53 AM PST

I've been reflecting about it in the last times, and I don't think it makes sense to kill the game now. What we have all assumed from the beginning was that the game wasn't doing well financially, but u/teachua79 posted some figures via sensortower.com that said it was making around 100k from the mobile platforms, plus the Steam revenue, that should be added too. Let's say 120k. It's not that bad; I mean, it's not a best-seller, but it should be enough to get some revenue now at this point of the game's cycle. I have a friend working in Ubi Soft mobile games, and according to him the biggest expenses happen at the beginning of the game, in the development stage, while in one it's been developed the team is smaller and expenses are way less. Thus I think it was financially sustainable.

Besides, we're talking about a good product. I mean, the game is good and fun, and knowing so, all the planning and marketing mistakes should just make them to learn how to handle it better, but not making it fall. We all know Bethesda and its tendency to release flawed products, but they usually fix them in the middle term and make them good and profitable games in the end. We just have to remember TESO and its release, while now it's a healthy game.

So, in conclusion, it doesn't make sense to me talking about leaving the game to die, especially if we think about all the potential it has and synergies with other games from the company. Just think about a TES 6 with Legends inside and at the same time an expansion in Legends based in the aforementioned game.

What happened then? Well, my hypothesis is that Bethesda's bosses weren't very happy with JoO reception. My guess is that following the reception thay saw the expansion and its mechanic are broken, and - following what they learnt in the DWD era - they reacted quickly. They probably sacked the card designers at that moment, but, instead of getting a new team on board fast, they thought they would take this time to reevaluate the game, and probably focus on Asian release, before taking any decision or making any promise to us. What makes me think this instead of thinking they had all planned since long ago is the timing: it was apparent that something had changed when they changed the client's background and loading screen, which was about 3 weeks after JoO released. So it seems to me that at first they released the expansion like any other, but after seeing its reception they quickly entered into discussion mode and decided to do something about it.

I know there's too a bit of wishful thinking here, but taking everything into account, I think it makes more sense that something like this happened than just quitting the game - especially after 2018's effort to change developers, etc.

The Worginator - Elder Scrolls Legends: Dragon Shout Deck

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:12 PM PST

So what is going on in ranked play the past weeks?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:03 PM PST

All I see are jank 62-card Daedra invade decks. They get steamrolled every time by the usual 3-color goodstuff that I play. Ranked has really degraded in quality ever since Bethesda jumped ship, hasn't it?
