Tri-color Gauntlet Deck, for anyone interested

    Shape of the Meta

This meta is weird. By only including Houses of Morrowind and Alliance War, this gauntlet excludes a lot of the fundamental building blocks of Legends gameplay contained in the Core, Heroes of Skyrim, and monthly sets: prophecies, lane movement, and powerful dual-color cards.

    Removal

First and foremost, this meta is defined by the removal of removal. Here's a brief list of removal staples not available in this meta:

    • Hard removal: Javelin, Cast Into Time, Edict of Azura, Lightning Bolt, Ice Storm
    • Lethal ping removal: Sanctuary Pet, Fighter's Guild Recruit, Territorial Viper
    • Conditional removal: Finish Off, Leaflurker, Fell the Mighty, Execute
    • Silence: Earthbone Spinner, Shadowfen Priest, Sorcerer's Negation

    Takeaways:

    • there's no good way to remove big threats. So you'd better be making big threats!
    • Barilzar's Tinkering was probably underplayed as a means of getting rid of Hand of Dagoth; all the 6-cost creatures suck compared to it.
    • Items are huge, and I might not have included enough. In the general meta, items are nerfed (or kept in check, depending on your perspective) by the prevalence of silence effects, but since there is little silence or removal, it's become a lot safer to slap items on a creature and swing face.
    • Fighter's Guild Steward is an interesting substitute for removal. I was able to use it + Hand of Dagoth to recover and win a couple of times.

    Prophecies

The next biggest effect on the meta is the exclusion of the most impactful prophecies:

    • Shrieking Harpy, Fighter's Guild Recruit, Lightning Bolt, Javelin, Golden Initiate

The impact of some of these cards underscores just how fundamentally they shape the meta: ie when you take Harpy out, not only do you lose the best Shackle card in the game, you also lose one of the best prophecies. This took me awhile to wrap my head around, and I kept misplaying around non-existent Lightning Bolts, Javelins, and Harpies.

    Takeaways:

    • smorc

    Draw

A lot of early draw staples are also excluded:

    • Shadow Shift, Rapid Shot, Thieves Guild Recruit, Crusader's Assault, Scout's Report

    Takeaways:

    • Tutors like Silent Pilgrim and Forerunner of the Pact are super impactful. This may be the only deck I've ever made with Silent Pilgrim as a 3-of.
    • Pick a color based on draw: green still has a lot available
    • Mulligans are even more important

    My Deck

I went 5-3, 9-2, 9-1 with this Dagoth deck that I refined over the first 10 games or so. The name of the game is getting a Hand of Dagoth as soon as possible, but early plays with items can snowball really quickly (Awakened Dreamer is a monster in this format).

    Looking Ahead

If we were to have this gauntlet again, I think that it needs to include something that gives non-Dagoth decks a chance. Isle of Madness is the best candidate with Squish, Knight of Order, The Gatekeeper, Dark Seducer, Golden Initiate, Seducer Darkfire (pick 5!), and Drive Mad all giving other decks some leverage over those pesky Hands of Dagoth.

Mehurunes Dagon (I left him out of my other post by mistake) - I didn't let him damage the Avatar because he would be able to kill it instantly if he aquired Lethal from Mundus Stone or Echo of of Akatosh, and that just felt anti-climatic

All the Daedric Princes (+1 bonus, non-Elder Scrolls related card) w/ explanations for each of them (No Hircine or Barbas because they already have their own Cards if you count "Aspect of Hircine", which I do)

Ok. Another deck question. I would love to build a kick ass stealer of secrets, Theranos, action deck. Any good ones out there? I tried but it's just not melding together. Thanks all!!
