A huge thank you to all our fans, from Sparkypants

    To all our fans,

As you may have already heard, Bethesda has shared news regarding future content for The Elder Scrolls: Legends. From the moment we were given the privilege to work on the game we have been nothing short of obsessed with making it the best it possibly could be. Completely rebuilding a pre-existing title from scratch under deadline with a new client, game server, and backend was no easy feat, with every system, gameplay nuance, animation, and visual effect having to be recreated. The result was a mad dash to initial release that was decidedly rough, but we, along with Bethesda, loved the game, wanted it to continue, and had been working heads down on a shared vision we hoped to bring to all Legends players.

Over these last 18 months the connection we experienced from the Legends community has been wonderfully uplifting. You supported us through every release and some significant bumps in the road. You challenged us when we missed the mark and that helped us to learn and grow. Nothing was more enjoyable than seeing your excitement from each expansion, feature addition, and requested quality of life change. You put a smile on our collective face every time with your kind words and passion. Truly we couldn't have asked for a better fan base. We love you.

Moving forward it is up to Bethesda to decide the shape of ongoing support for Legends. Most questions should now be directed to CVH or Customer Service. As far as the Asian version goes, while it is being built on our reworked version of Legends we've not been directly involved beyond the very occasional consultation. But we're excited to see where they take it! With that said, please know that we are still around. Some of us have moved on to other endeavors, but a core of us are still here, always open to a quick chat. <3

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts and to Bethesda for being a great partner. It's been a heck of a time.

    All the best,

    The Sparkypants Team

    History of Legends-01

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:43 PM PST

Hi all. History of legends will be a series of posts regarding TESL history, from decks to cards to nerfs and events that happened in our community.

Our first post will be about TESL's first balancing nightmare. I will not include closed beta as i was not part of it.

We will start with the very first nerf in legends,Soulrest Marshal. Soulrest Marshal is an interesting card in legends history, as it highlighted a very problematic mechanic that was introduced on a different card later on, mana cheating.

In August 26,2016 Merakon wrote this into patch notes :

Change: Soulrest Marshal now reduces the cost of the next card you play by 5 instead of 6.

Reason: The Magicka gain from Soulrest Marshal led to extremely swingy games, and even served as a way to accelerate out more expensive cards. With this change, it still leads to powerful turns, but doesn't let you jump ahead on Magicka.

Soulrest Marshal was a 5 mana 4/4 that reduced the cost of the next card you play by 6 if you had more health than your opponent. This was problematic because it would cheat 1 mana and would reward you with a 4/4 and another card that costs up to 6 in turn 5 (4 with ring or at the time, elixir of magicka). The deck soulrest marshal saw the most play was archer, as archer had really strong early game and would ensure the early health was gained. Another reason was Triumphant jarl. At turn 5, aggro archer would do a combo of soulrest marshal x2 (or 3 ) - triumphant jarl. 12/12 in stats and 2 card draw at turn 5. There was basically no answer to this, as the earliest possible answer is at 8 with dawns wrath.

This change however did not stop soulrest marshal. While you could not chain it turn 5 with triumphant jarl, it was still a really strong tempo play at 5 cost. So in January 11,2017, soulrest marshall received another change. This time both the cost and the magicka gain was changed to 6. This was the nail in the coffin for the argonian. While aggro archer was still strong, you had more turns to answer your opponent.

This will be it for our first post. We will talk about the nerfs to Agility in our next post.

Last The Elder Scrolls: Legends Cards in The Elder Scrolls Games

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 10:35 PM PST

So what would that last remaining set for this year have been?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:31 AM PST

I think it could've been a second Oblivion-based set that would provide counters to the invade mechanic. They've covered every major game including ESO by now with all their sets so I couldn't possibly think or what the new set's theme might have been. Maybe a second core set or one based on one of the expansions of ESO? What do you guys think?

If any TES Legends Artist or Voice Actor Ever Sees this...

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:35 PM PST

To the artists: Your artwork was truly phenomenal. You depicted the Elder Scrolls universe in such a beautiful way, and the images genuinely felt alive. We got to see what was only our imagination before in many cases or what had been shown to us in some of the games but the way you created you a static image felt even more real to me. Your work will live on long past this game and will always be admired any time anyone looks at it. Bravo to you and best of luck in the future.

To the voice actors: Your talent was put on display for our pleasure and we are really grateful. You voice lines made me love playing the cards and even enjoyed my opponent playing theirs and again, just made me feel like I was really within the Elder Scrolls world. All of you were great and I wish I could hear more and more. I hope you had enjoyed working on the game because we loved your work. Bravo to you too and best of luck going forward, with your great talents I'm sure I'll be hearing your voices again in a different form.

    Thank you!

    I just started playing today...

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:26 PM PST

So I was playing Hearthstone and my friend was playing this on mobile. I don't really play much Hearthstone anymore because I've been addicted to TFT and Hearthstone kinda bores me nowadays but I still play a game or two on mobile when on a riding a train or waiting somewhere. Anyways he shows me a bit of the game and I assume he was a somewhat casual player because if he was more hardcore I would think he would have mentioned this game died today. So I proceed to download and play through the story mode, put together a purple, green and white deck with a lot of lifegain, tokens and guard synergy I play for about 6-7 hours straight and get pretty excited about looking into ways to upgrade the deck, what legends I should invest in, thinking about how it'll be nice to take a little break from TFT and pretty much forget about Hearthstone forever. I got stuck on Lord Naarifin so I was about to download the game on PC and look up a guide for the best way to beat him so I googled elder scrolls legends download, saw the game died yesterday and laughed out loud.

But I am really disappointed because this game seems like it had a lot of potential. The freedom in deckbuilding was what really got me interested as a longtime MTG brewer who likes to experiment. Guess it's back to TFT.

    6 month re-union?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:43 AM PST

Hi everyone - long time lurker here.

This news definitely hit me really hard as well as many others sharing the impact on them - I can't believe how long I've dipped in and out of the game, when new sets came out, or just because I really enjoyed it.

I will miss playing support spellsword most of all (just a totally unique experience that I've never seen anything quite like in other games).

Anyway - would anyone be interested in a 6 month reunion? We could all log back in on (say) 20th June 2020, everyone who is interested could stream the game for a bit - basically share again the good times? And it'd be interesting for me at least to know what some my favourite content creators from this game have been up to in the meantime. Everyone will be rank 12 again by that time, so there'll actually be a pretty fair range of people and short queues, as well as a good reason to blow any remaining dust for a last shout:)

If you're interested - you can use reddit remind me 6 months or whatever to save the date, and if you're reading this on exactly 20th June 2020, see you on ladder!!

Lessons learned for the Asia client

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:03 AM PST

I think the Asia client has a chance to be a successful game financially. As much as we loved the game, the twitch drop era on top of an already incredible free to play model made the original version of this game unprofitable. Hardly anyone had to spend any money and were able to aquire the new sets with gold and gems every cycle.

With these lessons learned i think esl asia will be successful. And my last advice to the developers for that game is to skip the 3 color expansions. I thi k this game truly dies when tri color was introduced and killed the original flavor of the game by removing class identity. Good luck in your future endeavors.

    Where Were You?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:44 PM PST

Let's share our memories of where we were the first time we picked up TESL.

I was sat on a beach on Koh Samui, thought I'd give a random card game by Bethesda a bash.

I instantly got sucked into the mechanics, the art work and the community and spent a large proportion of my holiday (much to my Mrs' annoyance) watching videos of CVH, Justin and Furo.

I've not been playing as much recently, but this game will be missed and will always have a place in my gaming heart.

With this amount of farewell posts i feel obligated to answer u/justinlarson 's one. I'll have in my heart quite a few other content creators such as DTBlayde, but you specially were the core of the community.

The laughs I had with your videos will last forever, Jiub in the park and House Sodius nearly killed me. I loved hearing from you again and I'm super excited for your new project about formerly incarcerated men and women. Then again, thank you for everything, you deserve the best in life.
