    Let's share our meme decks!

    Posted: 23 Dec 2020 12:49 AM PST

It's been roughly a year since esl has been put on life support, and yet it remains incredibly fun and my ccg of choice. In an attempt to further increase the variance of fun decks seen in ranked, I'd like to share some of the memes I rotate around for the ladder, and hopefully create a thread filled with memes shared by many :).

For context, I've stuck to meme decks exclusively on ranked as they're a whole lot of fun to play and pull off. Currently hovering around #100-200 on legend, these decks while not optimal are definitely viable to climb ranked and get you to legend. Most of these decks will be common in having incredible swingy potential which is probably why I enjoy playing them so much. That said, here are the decks:

    1) Forward camp nord tribal

    SPAFejqYkjeDjdALirmtpDyXdlkJmGfxqReDmCAIcMnedLthsodfrjru

When I saw that forward camps produced eastmarchs I knew I had to craft a support deck around training grounds and nords. This deck is incredibly versatile, with guards and drains for a defensive play while you gather your supports, as well as charge creatures and card draw to pressure your opponent and close out games. Originally had 3 triumphant jarls, but I replaced 1 of them with jarl balgruuf for maximum meme potential. Very strong deck especially if your opponent doesn't draw any support removal, went 9-0 in the latest grand melee. Has 51 cards though, because I really couldn't choose a card to drop from the deck.

    2) Prophecy mage

    SPAIbqjPaAuGejhohLhLAGfxxcdVdIkAyRAKdroejHljgedfhnrCjSlY

I greatly prefer prophecy mage to battlemage because it is so much less predictable and will often take your opponent by surprise. Still aggressively sustainable enough to win games against control opponents even without any runes broken, with high cost cards such as golden saint and mighty conjuring. Went 9-1 and 1-3 (:( ) in the latest grand melee.

    3) Support control redoran

    SPAPhmlKrwqrddgOvZkhlHehkCfblxferkAGtKkvrkawfPbKAQdLfBmRcRqIfJlIakbDpefljkmyaMqNns

This deck combines the early cards in slay ebonheart with the support package and immense value from altars, orsinium forges and volundrung. Many OTK opportunities with this deck, such as when your forge is left untouched, or when your combine volundrung / b.giant with rage, catching pesky conscription players off guard :p. This deck probably has the most room for optimising out of the entire list, as I saw someone at #1 playing a similar deck many many months back. Mad props to him :)).

    4) Midrange shackling dominion

    SPAIajbqmxaAuGejyBwAAFjXhddydVsUATeZiBrRoewNnwepsyjHnMrCcxkVwcdrvKdhswyR

Tormentor + shackles = removal and value. Even without tormentor the deck is perfectly capable of fighting for board control and racing against your opponent while locking their creatures in place. Winter's grasp works best when both sides have creatures on the board and your unsuspecting opponent believes he's ahead in tempo. Many sources of damage from hand as well to close out games, such as bolt, dawnbreaker, cliff racers and ancano.

    5) Midrange last gasp ebonheart

    SPAItwfcrPbKyHxhyBgRALbLpDmGdydEcfwTdhysrWqRAPsXoReskVloitoEprrQhUbYnMfveQyi

The decks from here onward are increasingly less viable in high legend play, and I usually play around with them while climbing towards legend. This deck plays similar to mid warrior, but has further reach with sacraments + kinsmen / sowers, and cliff racers. Umaril probably shouldn't be inside but I wanted to make use of him after pulling him :).

    6) Wispmother raider OTK

    SPADjtllaAAEflcgcrpbANrVmVmGhygjoerCsHdVfLjHiyxP

After legends-decks closed I wasn't really sure what cards typical wispraider OTK decks included, but I tried my best to craft one that had sufficient control to stop your opponent while gathering your combo pieces. Nakriin probably should be axed, but eeh hehe.

    7) Dragon hlaalu

    SPALaslHaofffespvYuxqrufyBAKfvflndpWhndLgunwfWBiAPmGqEbXrZccdojynXozmTexdrqyoovS

At one point in time this was by far my favourite and most-played deck because dragons were so much fun and it was capable of getting 7/9 wins in the gauntlets, but most decks these days are either too fast for it to defend properly against, or even more greedy in prolonged games, and this deck has trouble in closing games out swiftly and decisively. Doesn't make it any less fun though!

I'd love to see the memes you've been playing too, so don't hesitate to share them here! I need to spend my soul gems. For anyone who decides to play any of the decks above, I hope you have as much fun with them as I had. Merry christmas!

    Beta features (Android)

Just curious how I find out what the beta features are that aren't in the normal version. I played for quite a while before joining the beta and I haven't noticed any differences yet. There are supposed to be unreleased features but I don't see them.
