This time, I did not prepare a new animation, I did not prepare an other speech. What I did prepare...
is the first trailer yet again (in case you weren't here 4 weeks earlier.)
Cut together from the official trailers of expansions
So this time, instead of giving you a speech, let us move through the rules.
- RULE OF BUILDING
You must bring 4 decks of different classes, but only one of them is allowed to have more than 50% (50->25; 75->38) neutral cards in it, and only one of them is allowed to have more than 3 types of "Invade" cards in it.
4 classes, 1 banned. Just like it was... before. Why 4? Why can't I just use the 3 as every other tournament has used it in the last year? Firstly, because I would like to have different decks as well. Not just the usual BM, Dagoth, Goblins, Dwemers... This is why neutral decks and invade is restricted to 1. (Not really, if you want you can bring 4 workshop decks, but only one of them can have more than 50% neutral cards in it.) Secondly, because the other tournaments have 3 decks. The Summer Tournament is a one time tournament.
But having 4 classes means that it will take time. This isn't a 3-hours tournament. This will take long. If enough players join, we will split the top 8 from the matches leading towards it. Wouldn't it be nice to have a tournament with so many participants that we had to make it weekend-long?
- RULE OF BANNING (yes, Rule 2 was skipped... it will come)
Your opponent will ban one of your decks before first match – you must not play with it against your current opponent. You can declare your decision in # <your name>'s ban channel like this: NightDarkWolf bans <Opponent>'s Warrior. When both players have banned, I will post them in current tournament's # bans.
As you can see, this tournament is held through discord instead of battlefy. Why? Because if the matches will be held the first day, but the stream the second day, you could search for the results on battlefy. This way, it will remain a secret until the stream starts... this is why we have the following rule:
- RULE OF SILENCE (yes, we skipped two other rules again...)
The contestants must not speak outside of this server about the results of the TOP 8 matches they have played until the tournament was streamed – each player has to add me (NightDarkWolf), AnymRai and CoreData to their friendlist before the tournament starts, and we will be allowed to spectate (and stream) their matches.
If the TOP 8 will be split to sunday, this will mean nothing.
- RULE OF CONQUEST
The tournament is held in Conquest format: after you win with a deck, you must not play with it against your current opponent.
I think the conquest format is the one that support the best players. You can't have one deck you're proficient with... you must have 4. Also this way it's more likely that we will get to see interesting and new deck ideas as well. (New = it will seem to me as new and others will know where it had been used before... but still. Rare ideas are welcome as well.)
- RULE OF SUBMISSION
You must send me the screenshot of your decks (English language preference) and the deckcodes through direct message 24 HOURS BEFORE TOURNAMENT STARTS. They will be uploaded in current tournament's # decklists before the tournament begins
Why deckcode as well? Because I'm sure there will be participants who won't submit them in English, and this way I will have the chance to create the right screenshot for you. Why direct message? So that others can't see. Why 24 hours before? Because I need time to see if all the submitted decks are legit decks. No violation of Rule of Building: no duplicates, no double neutral/invade decks. Also this way I will have the chance to create overlays we will use in stream, the casters will have time to digest your decks. What if you send it 5-10 mins after? I will still accept them, because every participant is welcome. What if you submit them 2 hours before tournament starts? I will probably have no time to process them.
- RULE OF QUALIFICATION
In both qualifiers, the first, second and third place-finishers will qualify, but everyone playing will earn points. 2 more will qualify through having the most points. In case of a tie, the organiser (me) will give further instructions.
Yes! This is a tournament series! 2 qualifier and the Summer Tournament itself, but when I announced it I wasn't aware this is called tournament series... advantages of being a non-native English-butcherer.
- RULE OF CHECK-IN
Half an hour before the tournament starts, a message will be posted in current tournament's # check-in. You must react with a checkmark to let me know you're here.
Is this controversial with what I said before? That I will create bracket once the decks have rolled in? Maybe. What will happen if someone doesn't checks in is, that I will just BYE the player who would've played against the "didn't-check-in" player.
- RULE OF TIMER
The Turn Timer must be set on.
I hope this is not a controversial point. Feel free to use your time, though please if you have nothing to do yet and you don't need to count for the following turns (fellow Nix-Ox player here), please don't rope your opponent. The 4 decks make this long enough with us roping each other.
- RULE OF REPORTING MATCHES
A screenshot must be held for a week of the results of the matches. The winner submits a short message after last match in current tournament's # match-results like this: NightDarkWolf - <Opponent> / 3 - 2
Please don't submit the screenshots and don't stop and ask for my help if you haven't taken a screenshot. It's only required in case there is an issue regarding who'd won that match. I hope there won't be any...
- RULE OF TOP 8
Two of the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the finals itself will be recorded, therefore you must ask for my permission before going into a top 8 match. After you get it, you must wait in mulligan phase until I and the casters join as spectator. (There is a timer in mulligan phase - if we can't join until it goes down, wait in first turn!)
This way we can record mulligan as well. At first I was hoping I could record (with casters' help) both players' mulligan, but then I realised internet connection will say otherwise. An other difference between ST and Masters.
- RULE OF MISQUEUEING
In case of a misqueue (queueing banned deck, a deck that has won before or a deck that was not assigned to said player) your opponent will decide if they want to hold it against you. In that case, they have won with their queued deck.
I hope we can be kind to each other, but if your opponent decides, they can make you lose because of a misqueue, so let's hover over the play button and doublecheck what deck you've selected before going into a match.
- RULE OF REPORTING
If there is a problem, you can report it in current tournament's # reports.
I hope there won't be.
-------------------------
So this is it, all the rules you need. I hope to see you next week.
